Magazines
Magazines include articles of general interest on many topics. Special Interest Magazines include mostly articles on topics related to their theme. Some magazines are geared towards readers who, although not experts, are knowledgeable about the issues presented. Articles in these sources are generally more in-depth but still fairly easy to understand. Although these magazines may cover "serious" material and magazine articles may summarize the results of scholarly research, to find actual scholarly information you should search elsewhere. Magazines are written for the "average" person who doesn't have in-depth knowledge of a topic. Articles are generally evaluated by staff editors rather than experts in the field. This doesn't mean that the articles can't give the reader a good overview of the field of interest. It just means that the article text and breadth is very broad and won't contain much detail. The author is usually a staff writer or journalist. The author's name is often not provided. The articles are shorter providing broad overviews of topics.
